About The Spring EP

Analog photography, commonly known as “film photography”, is a method of photography that uses chemical processes to capture an image on film, paper or plate. The photographer is limited to a number of exposures on each film role, and the photos cannot be seen until the film is developed. In the Spring EP Sessions we aspired to capture a similar process. With a time limit of two days (May 31 and June 1, 2023) in a studio we recorded two EPs; A studio version of four songs written within the month of the recording session, and a full band version of the same songs for a live EP. The live session was also recorded to a Recording The Masters SM900 1⁄4’’ tape .

The Spring EPs reflect a moment in time; Two days in a building full of musicians celebrating their friendship and collaboration in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.

Inspirations include -

A Rake’s Progress by David Hockney (1961-1963)

Empty New York by Duane Michals (1964 -1965)

Manhatta by Charles Sheeler and Paul Strand (1921)

Rookery Live Tapes by Giant Rooks (2021)
